Storyline is as follows:
Around the world economies sunk even farther, with the notice that Novania natives have risen up at Sakhalin Island. The oil rich island’s production of five million barrels of oil a day has stopped, the seven million cubic feet of natural gas, halted. The major oil companies positioned on the island have rushed in private military contractors for additional security around the hundreds of billions that they have invested, also paying off local security forces to help guard the gates to the compounds. The uprising though continued to grow more violent each day as negotiations with the locals have broken down. With fear of nationalization of their investments, these companies have banded together to defend their investment and declared support of the local uprising. With the political backing of a multi-nation contingent, these well armed private forces hold the island and support the locals.

Concerned about damages that could be brought to the island of Novania nationalizes the facilities, as well as possibly being forcefully moved off the island. The local militias violent take over the Sakhalin Island Naval station and their execution of the soldiers guarding the station in protest of the Novania government’s absence and lack of effort to ease suffering continued to tense the situation. Local officials called for appeal as the eyes of the Novania federal government turned to the small profit making island. Shortly after the Novania federal government’s negotiations first failures, the local militia executed all federal and local government’s leaders in protest and ending any negotiations from that point forward. The situation has gone from bad to worse, as the local militia prepares to fight against the Novania government forces. These incidents so far, have been hidden from the private forces supporting the local militias.

With the peak of summer just hitting on the small island, the Novania government has decided to take military action against the small island and its supporters. Its first airborne drop became as massacre as the private forces altered the local militias. The local forces knew where the troops were going to land and when they were going to land, leading to an all out embarrassment for the Novania Government. However, it would not be so easy to bring Novania back to the negotiation table. With this embarrassment in their face, Novania ordered a seaborne invasion. Due to the large coastal batteries at the naval station that were taken over by the local forces, armor is out of the question, as the armor landing crafts would be slaughtered before reaching shore. As Novania troops prepare to board landing craft, the question that remains is simple: Will infantry be enough to quell this violence?

In preparation for the landing though, the main outpost of the Sakhalin militia, the city of Korsakov was decimated by airstrikes. This bombardment forced the local populous into the forests that surround the city for cover. As summer set on however, and support for the uprising grew internationally, the Novania air force started to suddenly lose planes over the small island. First one, then a few… then an entire squadron of bombers wiped out before they even had a chance to drop their cargo on the island. With that loss, the air operations were called off until they could figure out what was shooting down their planes.

With no air support, no armor support it was up to the Novania soldiers to capture the city of Korsakov, open its ports for a winter supply chain and re-open its airport so that reinforcements could quickly be brought in when the anti-air weapons were captured or disabled. However, as the militia emerged from the forests, seeing the devastation that was unleashed onto the civilian center, even more members of the general populous rushed to join the ever more popular militia, and the support for the militia grew internationally.
