Video Taping Events
I've been looking at HD equipment and stumbled accross something awesome but most likely out of our price range.

Boy would that turn out some A+ event POV footage.
Something that might be more our speed would be the Flip Mino HD. At about $200 a pop we could invest in wearable gear. We could build a housing for it to wear on a MOLLE vest our helmet.

Re: Video Taping Events
I always thought helmet cams were pretty cool. If a few of us had some at BioShock, we would have caught some sweet moments of drama between Torque, Mavrick, Jimbo, and myself that would have been fun to add with the Debriefing, not to mention a better view of what happened when and where to make that debrief all the more accurate.
So from a documentary standpoint, I think a camera or two be great.

Only problem with Helmetcams is how much they suck in low light.

Re: Video Taping Events
OK, so they may not be useful for Bioshock (or any night game) or inside larger, unlit buildings, but otherwise they would seem pretty useful. Of course, most of the footage of Bioshock didn't make the cut because of how dark it was, right? So whether it's a helmet cam or a hand-held doesn't seem to make much difference in low light.
This might actually be a good training tool, too. Strap it to various roles within a squad and run through a few situations to demonstrate how that role should perform in each given situation. Eventually you'd come up with a library of video SOP's for each role within the squad. Best example I've got right now is strapping it to a SAW gunner to demonstrate how to give proper covering fire for a support element to flank a position. Medics, RTO's, and Squad Leaders could also benefit from video SOP's.

We can buy one today? Brad and I talked about a small Panasonic SDR S7. It records to memory card and is tiny. It will fit on the side of a helmet. $250 ish for this one. Most likely the best bet.
