G36 Tricks

Post by Knightmare on Fri Apr 09, 2010 8:57 am

I've been an avid G36 user and fan for my entire airsoft career. Over this time, I have come across a few things that will make disassembly of a G36 easier.

Note: These pictures were taken on my phone in my room, so the lighting isnt the greatest. But they should get the point across.

Heres my G36. Its not stock anymore, but it still uses the same basic principles.

The first thing you can do is remove the 2 screws that hold the barrel assembly to the body:

These do add some extra support to the barrel assembly, but are really not needed. Removing these 2 screws allows the front handguard and the barrel assembly to be removed by taking out the front handguard pin:

Next up is the magwell screw. For this, you will need to purchase another G36 handguard pin (AirsoftGI). You can remove the magwell screw (also known and the framelock screw), drill out the hole in the right side of the magwell, and use the handguard pin to hold the magwell and gearbox/pistolgrip in the body of the gun:

Then all you need to do is take that pin out to remove the magwell and the gearbox/pistolgrip:

And for the last tip; if you look at my gearbox, you will notice that the piece on top where the rear hex screw grabs onto is missing. That piece, along with the screw, is really unnecessary. Leaving both of them out gives you with more room to run wires to the rear if you wanted to, and makes gearbox reassembly easier since you don't have to line that top piece up.

So there you have it, how to modify your G36 to be completely disassembled by removing 2 pins.

Hope it helps!

Nice disassembly guide Knightmare! I'm liking the G36 the more I work with it. I just recently routed the wires on mine to the rear, I thought I was going to have to remove so many more pins that I originally thought. It was brain dead simple.

Yeah, the G36 platform is really easy to take apart. Its a nice crossover from its realsteel counterpart, which is equally as easy to disassemble.
